I have been blessed..

"If the only prayer in your life is thank you, that would suffice."
Meister Eckhart

This year has been a hard beyond anything I have ever imagined. I have been held together by so many people, by friends and family and, of course, the caring of my sisters in Blogland.
"Thank you" seems so small.

I have struggled with this a lot. It seems I have been constantly on the receiving end, with a thank you list so long, that I can't imagine getting to the bottom.  It has been such a tender and sensitive time and you have been so loving and gracious.

So, I continue to pick little things up when I see something that reminds me of a certain person. I struggle to create, but that has been the hardest. I cannot create to sell right now. I cannot to create for myself. Sometimes I can create for one of you.  I scrounge through my stash for those little things that I could pass on. I continue to make my bundles...some little, some big.

I just finished a couple of them.

This is for a friend in Germany who likes to read books written in English...

And this is for a friend who imagines being a mermaid...

I hope that the friends receiving them will understand that this is my way of saying thank you.
In the words of one of my favorite authors...

"Here are the two best prayers I know...help me, help me, help me...
and thank you, thank you, thank you."
Anne Lamott

Special thanks to Stefanie Fauth for taking the last two pictures for me on her fancy phone!

  1. I'm sure everyone, like myself, expects nothing back. We give when one of us is in need. When I was still just a young thing, someone helped me through a terrible time. When I said, "How can I repay you", they said, "One day, when you're in the position to help someone, do it." And that's really what it's all about.

  2. It never ceases to amaze me how supportive and caring my blogging friends are. They check up on you and remember you in their prayers. They read when you have the time and energy to write something and they leave friendly, loving comments. It's what we do as women.
This has been a very tiring and stressful time for you and Jud. I hope you're getting rest and eating good food to keep you strong. I think about both of you and always remember you in my prayers.

  3. Happy Father's Day weekend Suz! I so enjoyed your posts about your trip to San Francisco. What a beautiful wedding! The smiles on your loved ones faces are not a single bit different from ones before your husband's illness. Smiles are forever! Elizabeth

  4. Suz, I still haven't gotten through my long list of thank you's so I know how you feel. And I haven't seemed to regain my urge to create yet either. It comes in spurts and sputters and I am grateful for the times when my muse shows up. I've been doing a lot of art journaling lately. It seems I have to get my thoughts and feelings down on paper.
Wish Jud a happy father's day...this one will be difficult for us.

  11. Suz,

You have blessed me by allowing me to bless you during your journey. It meant so much for me to be able to do this, as when we were walking our cancer journey with my other mother, I too had friends that were there for me. I couldn't have gone through it without them.

You are such a beautiful, caring and loving lady with a heart of gold. Don't feel like you have to do anything, just seeing your smile and hearing from you is thanks enough.

Thank you for your comment and prayers. I read it to my daughter and she couldn't believe all the kindness and prayers being sent.

    Hugs,
    Sheila

  18. Dear Suz: We do not give to receive. We give because we want to and can. It is a very small way of honoring the difficult journey you and your family are on at this time. Prayers continue...

  22. Hi Suz, you under-estimate the gifts you've already shared with your friends....your caring and friendship. I just met you for a short time at Silver Bella, but your radiance and warmth were so evident. You emailed me after we all got home and after Jud's diagnose when we "chatted" virtually, that your felt a connection, well I did too, and was a little startled it happened so quickly and with little introduction. But the fact is you have a special gift, if there are angels on earth readily visible and always present, you are one. You have probably given many people so much more than you realize.
